Boso Satoyama Honey Stick Cookies: A Fragrant Southern Chiba Treat

房総はちみつの里倶楽部スティッククッキーパッケージ

Southern Chiba is known for its flowers, and the healthy bees of the Boso countryside produce flavorful satoyama honey. I found these locally inspired cookies at Michi-no-Eki Furari Tomiyama.

Boso Honey Village Club Stick Cookies (Nagatoya)

The box contains 12 cookies and costs 600 yen. Its cheerful design features bees and a honeycomb pattern.

Side of the Boso honey stick cookie package

The cookies contain 2.5% honey from the satoyama area of southern Boso—a special touch, as domestically produced Japanese honey is valuable.

The best-before date is printed on the back and was about two months from purchase.

The cookies are sealed together rather than individually wrapped.

How do the honey stick cookies taste?

Cross-section of a Boso honey stick cookie

The slim stick shape is easy to eat. The texture is wonderfully crisp, and the rich aroma of honey fills your mouth from the first bite. Children enjoyed them too, although honey products must never be given to infants under one year old.

They disappeared quickly at our house. Individual wrapping would make them easier to share at work, but the cookies themselves were delicious.

Thank you for the treat!
