P-Man Peanut Butter-In Cookies (Seiwa Bussan): Cookies Featuring a Local Chiba Mascot

Pマンピーナッツバタークッキー

When you are unsure what souvenir to choose, buying something local is a dependable strategy. Some areas even have their own yuru-chara mascots that appear on souvenir products.

If you visit Chiba, Funassyi is probably the best-known mascot. Chiba-kun is also very familiar to local residents.

While looking for souvenirs at Ichikawa Parking Area on the Shuto Expressway Bayshore Route, I assumed the selection would mainly feature Funassyi or Chiba-kun.

Instead, I found products featuring a character I had never seen before, named “P-Man.”

The plump, round shape is very cute.

Cross-section of P-Man cookie

The cookie is crisp and light.
Inside is a generous amount of peanut cream.
The cream is rich and smooth, and the occasional bits of peanut add a nice accent. Delicious!
