One challenge when shopping for souvenirs is deciding how much to give. Depending on the recipient, something too elaborate may feel excessive, while something too modest can also be worrying. In those situations, a small, inexpensive item is extremely useful. Adding an ordinary product sold everywhere is not very exciting, though, so it is ideal when you can find something local. This Lucky Okaki series is made by Sanshin, a company that has long produced okaki rice crackers at its Chiba factory. I noticed the charming packages at Pasar Makuhari and decided to buy them.
Three Lucky Okaki Flavors from Sanshin Chiba Factory
The three varieties are Lucky Mayo, Lucky Mayo Curry, and Lucky Mentaiko Mayo (^^) 
Each 40-gram bag costs ¥108. Since the price was so reasonable, I bought every flavor. Each package features an adorable, humorous illustration. Lucky Mayo has a bird, Lucky Mayo Curry has a giraffe, and Lucky Mentaiko Mayo has…perhaps a face on a piece of spicy cod roe, or maybe it is mayonnaise or a grain of rice? I cannot quite tell (^^;; In any case, the loud package colors, quirky-cute illustrations, and slightly smaller-than-usual snack size all make these bags intriguing! 
The best-before date is printed on the back; mine was about three months after the purchase date.
How do the Lucky Okaki flavors taste? My impressions after trying them
First, let’s try Lucky Mayo, which contains 178 kcal! 
It has a light texture that is both crisp and crunchy. You can really taste the delicious rice! It feels as though carefully selected, high-quality rice was used. The pleasant tang of mayonnaise makes these almost impossible to stop eating once you begin (^^) The flavor is creamy but not heavy, and it leaves a clean impression. The salt level is just right, creating a mild, gentle taste. I would recommend this flavor even for young children. My two-year-old happily ate one piece after another (^^) Next is Lucky Mayo Curry, containing 189 kcal! 
A spicy aroma spreads the instant you open the bag! The bold, strongly seasoned flavor makes quite an impact. It is not hot, but the rich combination of curry and mayonnaise is incredibly addictive. The balance of sweetness, saltiness, and depth is excellent. Because it is creamy and not spicy, it was also popular with my elementary-school-age child. Finally, Lucky Mentaiko Mayo contains 188 kcal. Incidentally, the bag has a convenient tear notch, so you are unlikely to open it badly and scatter the crackers everywhere (^^) 
I was surprised to see that the okaki itself is pink! 
Even the inside is pink, making it look as though mentaiko has truly been kneaded into the rice cracker. This flavor has a noticeable touch of the spicy heat of mentaiko. The mayonnaise rounds it out beautifully, and the result is delicious. The savory richness of the cod roe is irresistible too. My child said it was slightly spicy, but for an adult like me, it may be my favorite of the three! The seasoning is strong enough to make me want a beer (^^) Every variety was so tasty and hard to stop eating that I would gladly buy them again.
