Shrimp Sauce by Nanohana no Sato: An Easy Shortcut to Exceptional Snacks and Meals

エビソース

When I visited the Kisarazu area, I stopped at Michi-no-Eki Umakuta no Sato. A sample there was so delicious that I bought a bottle.

At the tasting counter, this shrimp sauce had simply been tossed with raw cabbage. Customers were eating it enthusiastically, suggesting that the flavor appeals to almost everyone.

Two varieties were displayed: a Western-style spiny-lobster sauce and a Japanese-style spiny-lobster soy sauce. I kept debating between them until the very end.
I wanted both.

Because I had been able to taste it, I chose the Western-style Ise Ebi Sauce: 175 milliliters for 648 yen.

Shrimp Sauce (Nanohana no Sato)

The sauce comes in a stylish, slender bottle, with an impressive Japanese spiny lobster pictured on the label.

The distributor, Nanohana no Sato Co., Ltd., is based in Chiba, while the manufacturer is Shuzenji Shoyu Co., Ltd. in Shizuoka.

The spiny-lobster powder itself is properly sourced from Chiba Prefecture.

The best-before date is printed on the back. It kept for around three months from the date of purchase.

Tossing Cabbage with Shrimp Sauce

Following the example at the tasting counter, I decided to combine the spiny-lobster sauce with cabbage.

Mix thoroughly, and it is finished.

Finished cabbage tossed with Shrimp Sauce

It is every bit as delicious as I remembered.
The rapeseed oil feels light rather than heavy, and the savory flavor of spiny lobster spreads wonderfully. It tastes of the sea, and the lobster aroma is already intense before the cabbage even reaches your mouth.

Simply tossing it with raw cabbage creates an effortless snack to serve with drinks. It is extremely convenient.

Stir-Frying Cabbage with Spiny-Lobster Sauce and Garlic

On another day, I stir-fried cabbage with the sauce and garlic, and that was equally excellent.

Cooking made the spiny-lobster aroma stand out even more and added a roasted fragrance, improving the flavor further. 🙂

On yet another day, I added pasta and made peperoncino. Because this is a Western-style sauce, pasta is an unfailingly delicious match and may be my strongest recommendation.

I tried the sauce in several dishes, every one successful, and finished the entire bottle in a week.

The slim bottle takes up little refrigerator space. At 175 milliliters, it contains a practical amount and is so useful that finishing it is easy. That also makes it ideal as a souvenir.

Next time, I would like to buy the Japanese-style spiny-lobster soy sauce. 🙂
Thank you for the meal.
