Souvenirs are easier to choose when you know the recipient’s interests and tastes.
Adding the words “regional exclusive” is often enough to make a product feel appropriate as a souvenir. This item is called “Hokkaido Limited Cheddar Cheese Potato.” Although the box says Hokkaido limited, I bought it at a product fair held in Tokyo. Since the fair itself was available only for a limited time, I think that still counts.
Leaving the technicalities aside, the quality was good enough that I can confidently recommend it to cheese lovers.
Despite the accessible price, it uses cheddar cheese from Hokkaido and feels like a well-considered product.
Hokkaido Limited Cheddar Cheese Potato (Original One)
A 378-yen box contains three 18-gram bags. Each bag has 103 kcal.
A tempting photograph of cheddar cheese dominates the compact box, which is small enough to hold in one hand. I love cheese, so I bought it immediately. I also enjoy full-bodied red wine, which means snacks like this belong to the category I am always happy to keep in stock.

The best-before date is printed on the back. It had about two months remaining from the purchase date.

There are three small bags inside the box.
The product name is printed on every bag, so they can be separated and handed out individually.

Each individual packet also carries its own best-before date. It is a small but genuinely useful detail.
What Do Hokkaido Limited Cheddar Cheese Potatoes Taste Like?

Time to taste them.
Both the appearance and texture resemble the famous Jaga Pokkuru snacks.
They are crisp and crunchy.
A generous coating of rich cheddar-cheese powder covers every piece.
The cheese flavor is intense—just what one hopes for from Hokkaido.
My child loved them too, saying that even the cheese powder left on the fingers tasted delicious.
Adults, meanwhile, may find themselves wanting a glass of wine.
My only complaint is that I wanted more. The snack was so tasty that one small bag disappeared almost immediately. Of course, it is intended as a single-serving packet. 🙂
The individual bags are easy to share and the price is reasonable, so I recommend this as a Hokkaido souvenir.
Thank you for the treat!
