Tourist souvenirs are fun because so many products are unfamiliar, but their flavor and value inevitably raise questions. Since many are sold only in limited places, there is often little information available. This time, I am introducing a souvenir bought during a trip to Izu, when we visited the Animal Kingdom zoo. At Animal Kingdom, visitors can see white tigers at close range through glass. They are the park’s signature attraction, and some people visit specifically for them, so the gift shop carries many white-tiger products. After paying admission and lunch costs, another purchase adds to the day’s expense, but prices in the Izu Animal Kingdom shop were comparatively reasonable. I will report on the shop in more detail another time; today’s item is the “White Tiger Lunch Box.” My child insisted on it because the container was so cute. Since the case can be used for a long time, that certainly adds value.
White Tiger Lunch Box by Fujiboshi
Eight cookies cost ¥600, which seems fair when the reusable box is considered. The plastic container is exactly the sort of thing children want, and the adorable face of a white tiger forms the lid. It is collapsible too, so it does not take up unnecessary space (^^) The affordable price and reusable case make these lunch-box souvenirs difficult to resist.
The best-before date is printed on the back; mine was about two months from purchase.
The lunch box was wrapped in plastic.
Open the lid and individually wrapped cookies appear inside.
So cute! Even the individual wrappers feature white tigers (^^) You probably would not buy this product specifically to hand out one cookie per person, but the packets could still be shared individually.
My impressions after tasting the White Tiger Lunch Box cookies
Let’s try one.
The cookie itself is an ordinary round shape.
It has a fairly firm bite. I like this robust, crunchy texture, and the gentle milk flavor spreads smoothly and tastes delicious (^^) Since it came from a zoo gift shop, I had not expected much from the cookies, but the taste was genuinely satisfying. The flavor exceeded expectations, although the quantity alone would not match the price. When viewed as a reusable case that happens to include cookies, however, the value is excellent. Above all, it is so cute that it is certain to delight children. The container later became a proper toy box in our home and now holds creations made with Aqua Beads and iron-on beads. At this price, a souvenir with such a useful case is a bargain. Thank you for the treat (^^)
