Dried Friet Premium Salt is produced by the famous French-fry specialist AND THE FRIET, with Tokyo-area shops in Hiroo, Harajuku, and Shibuya. It is slightly expensive for everyday snacking, but stylish and well received as a gift when visiting family. The fashionable locations add recognizable Tokyo appeal. I found a limited-time shop at Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi and bought a bag.

The back shows a girl from behind—an impressively detailed design. 
A 60-gram bag costs ¥450. The metallic package features a cute child in black-rimmed glasses. I chose Premium Salt; anchovy, honey butter, and truffle flavors were also available, each with a different illustration. Staff said truffle was most popular.
My impressions after eating Dried Friet Premium Salt
The bag contains 317 kcal, and the best-before date was about four months after purchase. 
Each piece is about 1.5 centimeters thick and looks like a real French fry. 
They are crisp and crunchy. Carefully selected Belgian potatoes provide excellent flavor, while refined salt draws out their natural savoriness (^^) The inside crumbles softly, like delicious fries with all moisture removed. If the snack version is this good, the freshly fried potatoes must be remarkable. The photogenic package and limited locations make this a truly urban Tokyo souvenir. Friends in my rural hometown loved it (^^) Thank you for the treat!
The higher price becomes easier to understand once the careful presentation and potato quality are considered. This is not simply an ordinary bag of potato snacks placed in a fashionable wrapper. The thick pieces retain a fluffy potato character beneath their dry, crisp surface, so each bite feels substantial. Premium Salt is the simplest flavor, which lets the Belgian potato taste remain clear. The other varieties sound attractive, but this straightforward seasoning is an excellent first choice. Because the bag itself creates conversation, it also works especially well when you want a small gift that looks unmistakably modern and Tokyo-like.
