I have been buying souvenirs from all over Japan, and today an impressive range of regional and premium products is also available through Amazon and Rakuten.
I wanted to keep a slightly luxurious box of sweets at home, so this time I ordered one online from Amazon.
I looked for something good enough to serve to unexpected guests, yet also appropriately sized and presented for a small gift. That search led me to a box of sweets from Shiseido Parlour.
Ordering the 20-Piece Shiseido Parlour Biscuit Tin from Amazon
The price was around ¥1,620. It changes from time to time, so check the current listing on Amazon: Shiseido Parlour Biscuits, 20 Pieces.
The parcel arrived in the familiar Amazon cardboard box.

I opened the box with a sense of anticipation.

The sweets were firmly secured to the cardboard, just as with other products shipped by Amazon.

It is difficult to see in the photo, but the brightly colored wrapping paper is protected by a thin plastic covering.

The best-before date appears on the back. The shelf life is 90 days from manufacture.

After removing the wrapping paper, this is what appears. Elegant lettering is embossed on a thick white paper sleeve.

Removing the white sleeve reveals a charming tin.

The colors, lettering, and stripes are all exceptionally stylish. Before I had even opened it, I was already wondering what I could store in the tin afterward.

Now let us open the tin.

What Is Inside the 20-Piece Shiseido Parlour Biscuit Tin?

A paper guide inside explains the different varieties of biscuit.
The illustrations make every type easy to identify.

There are six varieties in total. Each biscuit is individually wrapped in clear packaging printed with its name.
Contents: 20 biscuits—three each of Caramel, Cannelle, Amande, and Vanille, plus four each of Chocolat and Sucre.
Product size: 125 × 206 × 66 mm; weight: 378 g

I arranged one of every variety on a plate.
Every biscuit has a wonderfully crisp texture and tastes delicious.
I tried all six flavors. Each has its own distinct character, so I intended to savor them slowly, one at a time, but before I knew it I had eaten several.
I love cinnamon, so the flower-shaped Cannelle was my personal favorite. The children, meanwhile, competed for the Caramel biscuits.
The refined flavors and attractive reusable tin make this set ideal both as a gift for someone important and as a thoughtful item to bring when visiting.
It is also reassuring that such high-quality cookies have a 90-day shelf life.
They were truly delicious. Thank you for the treat.
This is an exceptionally convenient choice for a small present, thank-you gift, or return gift.
Shiseido Parlour has a trusted brand name, the cookies taste excellent, and the tin is beautiful. The box is also light and compact enough for the recipient to carry home comfortably.
Naturally, the biscuits are equally suitable for serving with tea on the spot. If a host modestly said, “This is all I have,” and then brought out this tin, it would be more than generous.
A 90-day shelf life is long enough to keep a box ready, although it is not practical to stock a large number. Keeping one or two boxes at home, however, should not take up too much room and could be very useful.
Highly recommended.
