This time I am introducing candy. A single tin of candy may feel rather lonely as a souvenir, but it is a convenient extra item to add beside a substantial box of sweets. If you know the recipient’s family includes elementary-school children, candy will almost certainly be welcomed, and sweets in a tin have an excitement all their own. Of course, hard candy should not be given to very young children because of the risk of swallowing or choking. This product clearly says “A Taste of Tochigi,” so it also works properly as a regional souvenir. There may not be much to review about candy, but here it is in our usual format!
Tochigi Flavor Lemon Milk Candy by Nagatoya
One 80-gram tin cost ¥324. I bought it at Kawaguchi Parking Area in Saitama. Although this is a small parking area, it is a useful stop carrying a respectable range of souvenirs not only from Saitama but also from neighboring prefectures. 
The package looked extremely similar to Tochigi Milk Industry’s famous Lemon Milk, and its cuteness made me buy it. Looking more carefully, however, I noticed that it says “Milk with Lemon” rather than “Lemon Milk.” The seller is not Tochigi Milk Industry, maker of Kanto-Tochigi Lemon, but Nagatoya, a company producing many different souvenir products. The colors, illustration, and logo are so similar that most people will probably assume these are official Lemon Milk drops when they buy them. My child is a Lemon Milk fan and excitedly insisted that we get them, but since the sweets are made in the familiar Sakuma Drops style, the flavor seemed unlikely to disappoint (^^) 
The best-before date is printed on the bottom. Mine was approximately five months after the purchase date.
How does Tochigi Flavor Lemon Milk Candy taste?
It has the familiar shape of a classic drop, sparkling in the pretty pale color of Lemon Milk. The flavor is wonderfully nostalgic. There is something delicious about this distinctly juice-free candy taste. The pleasantly inexpensive-style lemon flavor is comforting, while the familiar refreshing character of Lemon Milk spreads across the mouth. The Sakuma-style hard-candy texture adds to the nostalgia (^^) Naturally, my candy-loving child approved, but even adults find it difficult to resist drops sold in a tin.
