Review of Ragueneau Apple Sticks
I purchased them at Shin-Aomori Station.
Aomori offers many apple-based souvenirs, but my strongest recommendation is the Apple Stick made by the confectioner Ragueneau. It is a stick-shaped pie filled generously with sweet, crisp pieces of Aomori apple.
A conventional apple pie or tart can be difficult to divide and wrap. These pieces are individually packaged and shaped for eating by hand, so they can be offered casually to friends and coworkers without plates or cutting.
An authentic apple pie in a convenient form
They taste good straight from the wrapper, but gentle heating in a microwave makes the apple seem sweeter and gives the pastry a softer, more fragrant character. Always follow the package directions and remove any unsuitable wrapping before heating.
I have shared this classic Aomori gift with many friends and colleagues. One friend who normally disliked apple pie tried it and said, “This is really delicious,” which made the product especially memorable for me.
The confection has received recognition from Monde Selection, and its approachable texture makes it suitable for many ages. It has been sold at Shin-Aomori Station, the airport and supermarkets around Aomori. Packages have included five- and twelve-stick boxes, and individual pieces may also be available.
The product succeeds because convenience does not erase the apple-pie experience. The recipient still gets tender fruit, pastry and the aroma of baked apple, but in a portion that travels and shares easily. Current prices, quantities and storage instructions should be checked at purchase.
For a souvenir that clearly expresses Aomori’s apple culture while remaining practical for an office or household, Ragueneau Apple Sticks are a dependable choice.
