My impression of Ringo Otome

Ringo Otome is an apple confection somewhat like a delicate rice cracker. It is wonderfully crisp and light, with a sweet-and-tart apple flavor. Because the sweetness is restrained and each piece is thin and easy to eat, I think it can also appeal to people who do not normally enjoy very sweet desserts.
The appearance is another attraction. Each wafer looks as though an apple has been sliced crosswise and baked just as it is, creating a simple, natural kind of cuteness. The apple shape immediately communicates the character of the product before the package is even opened.
It has been available in boxes of ten and twenty pieces, both practical quantities for a souvenir. Ringo Otome is sold at various locations in Nagano and toward Takayama in Gifu, so it may already be a familiar regional gift. It is not the kind of extremely rare product that can be purchased only in one particular shop. Anyone seeking exclusivity may not find that aspect exciting, but the wide availability makes it a convenient and reliable choice.
There are two package styles: one with an illustration and another with a simpler pattern. Being able to select the design according to the recipient feels thoughtful and stylish. The illustrated version has an unpretentious apple motif that expresses the honest simplicity of Ringo Otome very well.
