Hiruzen Jersey Yogurt: Award-Winning Richness from Okayama

Hiruzen Jersey Yogurt is made from fresh milk produced by Jersey cows raised amid the magnificent natural landscape of Hiruzen in northern Okayama Prefecture. The product won a gold prize at the 2014 Local Yogurt Grand Prix, and one taste makes it easy to understand why.

The cup has two delicious layers: a rich, golden cream layer on top and smooth, melting yogurt beneath it. Together they create a flavor and texture that are difficult to forget. No stabilizers or preservatives are used, allowing the freshness and natural richness of the milk to remain at the center of the experience.

Although it has long been a favorite in Okayama, it may still feel new to visitors from other parts of Japan. You do not have to travel all the way to Hiruzen to find it, because it is also carried at selected highway service areas. That makes it a convenient treat to enjoy during a road trip or take home when refrigeration is available.

There is also a blueberry version, in which the fruit’s bright acidity complements the creamy yogurt. Those looking for something even more indulgent can choose premium varieties. Whichever version you try, this is a small cup that communicates the quality of Hiruzen’s dairy farming and the distinctive richness of Jersey milk.
